Choubaka at Fort Delgres

A Sunday and digestive walk from Choubaka to Fort Delgres in the city of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe. This fort, built in the 17th century, was at first a battlefield during the war between the French and the English in the Caribbean, then it became the theater of a famous revolt led by the mulatto officer Louis Delgres, after the restoration of the slave by Napoleon in 1802 (Wikipedia source). The fort houses the tomb of General Antoine Richepanse (born in 1770 in Metz and died in Basse-Terre in 1802 as a result of yellow fever), which was sent by Bonaparte to put an end to the anti-slavery rebellion of Colonel Delgres and his men.
